1. Who is behind Maison Soleil?
Maison Soleil is the trading name of Sunshine Corp SAS, a French company founded in Marseille on 14 April 2021. The brand was founded by Léa Dumont (president, e-commerce and subscription specialist), Thomas Reinach (head of roasting, Q Grader) and Camille Vasseur (head of sourcing, expert in African markets).
2. What is the difference between Maison Soleil and supermarket coffee?
We are an artisan roaster specialising in specialty coffee. Our lots are small, slowly roasted in Marseille, and documented all the way back to origin. We favour buying directly from cooperatives, with multi-year contracts and a guaranteed floor price.
3. Where is your coffee roasted?
In our roasting workshop in Marseille, in the Joliette district, a few steps from France’s historic coffee-importing port.
4. Where does your coffee come from?
We source from two main families of origins:
- Direct trade French-speaking Africa : Rwanda, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Madagascar and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
- Classic origins : Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, Kenya, Peru, Honduras, through specialist importers chosen for their exacting standards.
5. What does direct trade mean at Maison Soleil?
It means buying directly from partner cooperatives, with no trading intermediary. Every contract includes a minimum three-year commitment, a floor price at least 30% above the world market price and 40% harvest pre-financing.
6. Why is your coffee sold both as whole beans AND ground?
Whole bean is Maison Soleil’s historic and preferred format: it preserves aroma the longest. Ground coffee is offered for those who do not yet own a grinder, with the same standard of freshness.
7. What subscriptions do you offer?
Three monthly tiers, commitment-free, each available as whole bean or ground:
- Découverte : 250 g of a rotating classic origin, with a tasting card.
- Signature : 250 g featuring our 5 direct trade origins from French-speaking Africa, with editorial content about the cooperative of the month.
- Prestige : 250 g of rare micro-lots + a free accessory every quarter.
8. How does the commitment-free subscription work?
You are charged each month on the date you signed up. You can pause, change or cancel your subscription at any time from your customer account, free of charge and with no questions asked.
9. Can I gift a subscription?
Yes. Our gift subscription lets you offer one month of the Signature tier with no commitment for the recipient. We also offer gift sets all year round.
10. What is the best way to brew your coffee?
It depends on the aromatic profile and the roast:
- Filter : ideal for bright origins (Ethiopia, Rwanda, Madagascar, DRC).
- French press : perfect for round blends (Mélange Matinal).
- Moka pot or espresso : go for bold profiles (Corsé du Vieux Port, Nuit Blanche).
Every bag comes with a tasting card and our brewing advice.
11. Are your capsules compatible with my machine?
Our compostable capsules (paper/cellulose, aluminium-free) are compatible with Nespresso. Our eco-designed soft pods are compatible with Senseo.
12. What does “100% coffee” mean at Maison Soleil?
We sell nothing but coffee. No chicory, barley or lupin, and no functional drinks based on mushrooms or adaptogens. If we ever developed a caffeine-free offer, it would live under a separate sub-brand so as not to dilute our world.
13. How should I store your coffee?
Away from air, light, moisture and strong heat. Whole beans keep for around 6 to 8 weeks after opening; ground coffee, more like 2 to 3 weeks. Our airtight tin with a one-way valve is designed to extend freshness.
14. What delivery options do you offer?
We deliver to mainland France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany and selected French-speaking African countries. Delivery times and costs are shown at checkout. Subscriptions ship around the same day each month.
15. What is your returns policy?
You have 14 days to exercise your right of withdrawal on non-perishable, unopened products (equipment, merchandise). We cannot take back opened or consumable coffee, but we review every claim case by case. See our Terms of Sale for full details.
16. Can I buy Maison Soleil in a physical shop?
Yes. Our coffee is available in a selection of fine food shops, organic stores and partner independent roasters. Since late 2025, a supermarket pilot has been running in premium urban chains, reserved for certified organic whole beans.
17. Do you have offers for businesses?
Yes. We supply offices, coworking spaces, hotels, cafés and restaurants. Our Pro offer includes large-volume formats, extraction advice, training and simplified reordering. Visit our Professionals page to find out more.
18. How do I know which coffee is right for me?
Every product page shows the intensity, tasting notes, roast level and recommended brewing methods. You can also start with the Discovery Gift Set to compare three different profiles.
19. Are your coffees organic?
Some origins are certified organic (Rwanda, Madagascar, DRC, Guatemala, Kenya), others are not. The certification of each lot is shown on the product page. All our direct trade origins meet our traceability and fair payment standards.
